Access and Equity Policy
ILP Academy ensures all students have fair and equitable access to our trainers and resources. ILP Academy will provide resources in a variety of delivery and media formats to allow students with differing needs to gain access to all content and assessments. ILP Academy does not tolerate any type of discrimination by staff or students during interactions. Management reserves the right to take actions to rectify the situation, which may lead to expulsion or dismissal.
Assessor Code of Practice
The Code of Practice supports professionally responsible and ethical assessment practice and to guide TAE assessors in the responsibilities of their work. The code reinforces the performance outcomes of the TAE Training and Assessment Package assessment units.
- The differing needs and requirements of the candidates, the local enterprise/s and/or industry are identified and handled with sensitivity
- Potential forms of conflict of interest in the assessment process and/or outcomes are identified, and appropriate referrals are made, if necessary
- All forms of harassment are avoided throughout the assessment process and in the review and reporting of assessment outcomes
- The rights of candidates are protected during and after the assessment process
- Candidates are made aware of their rights and processes of appeal
- Personal or interpersonal factors that are irrelevant to the assessment of competence must not influence the assessment outcomes
- Evidence is verified against the rules of evidence
- Assessment decisions are based on available evidence that can be produced and verified by another assessor
- Assessments are conducted within the boundaries of the assessment system policies and procedures
- Formal agreement is obtained from candidates and the assessor that the assessment was carried out in accordance with agreed procedures
- Assessment systems and tools are consistent with equal opportunity rights
- Candidates are informed of all assessment reporting processes prior to the assessment
- Candidates are informed of all known potential consequences of assessment decisions, prior to the assessment
- Confidentiality is maintained regarding assessment decisions/outcomes and records of individual assessment outcomes which identify personal details are only released with the written permission of the candidate/s
- Assessment outcomes are used consistently with the purposes explained to candidates
- Self assessments are periodically conducted to ensure current competence against the TAE Training and Assessment Training Package competency standards
- Professional development opportunities are identified and sought
- Opportunities for networking amongst assessors are created and maintained
- Opportunities are created for technical assistance in planning, conducting and reviewing assessment practice and participating in validation.
All information collected on this website is guided by the Australia Government’s privacy principles and protected under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What Information do we collect?
ILP Academy collects two types of information about you; Personal Information; such as your name, address, telephone number and email address. We do NOT store your credit card details and where possible, recommend the use of BPay or EFT for financial transactions. Aggregated information collected by our systems (or third party systems) is used to track website use and loads. Accepting ‘cookies’ from our website will allow this information to be utilised for this purpose only. This information will not identify you personally, but we may store the incoming IP address of site visits. This information is stored to help diagnose problems, and provide better customer support and services.
How we collect and use your information
ILP Academy may collect your personal information for the following purposes;
1. to report AVETMISS data to the government in relation to accredited training
2. to provide you with the requested information, products or services
3. to notify you of new products or services from time to time
4. to conduct marketing activities
We will not disclose or sell your personal information to other organisations.
Storage and security of your personal information
We take every reasonable measure to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. However, we must make you aware that we cannot warrant the security of information transmitted over the internet, and therefore use is at your own risk.
Enrolment periods vary among the course offerings and how the student intends to undertake the specific course. Maximum enrolment period with ILP Academy is 24 months. Students undertaking shorter courses or qualifications will generally complete their training before the period expires at which time the enrolment will be ceased.
Assessment is making judgements about how students’ work meets appropriate standards and drawing inferences from these judgements about students’ attainment of learning outcomes. At ILP Academy assessment is used to achieve the following purposes:
- engage students in productive learning;
- inform teaching and learning decision-making;
- provide evidence of course- and program-level learning outcomes and graduate attributes;
- provide comprehensive, accurate, consistent and dependable certification of student achievement; and
- maintain professional and disciplinary standards.
- Assessment is a developmental learning activity: The assessment process engages students in worthwhile learning activities and develops their capacity to make independent judgements about the quality of their own and others’ work.
- Assessment involves mutual responsibility: Teachers have a responsibility to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate learning through appropriate assessment tasks and to support learning through effective feedback, as well as to orient students new to vocational study to the assessment methods and standards; students have a responsibility to demonstrate evidence of learning through their responses to assessment tasks and to reflect and act on feedback to improve their learning.
- Assessment is criterion-referenced: Judgements about the quality of students’ performance are made by reference to explicit or predetermined criteria and standards and not by reference to the achievement of other students.
- Assessment is transparent: Students and teachers can see that there is an explicit and logical relationship among assessment tasks; learning objectives; the criteria used as the basis of assessment judgements; and the grades associated with different levels or standards of performance.
- Assessment is credible: Assessment measures what teachers intend it to and provides a consistent or dependable indication of the quality of students’ performance.
- Assessment is fair and equitable: The content, format and conduct of assessment are designed to ensure that no individuals or groups of students are unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged.
- Assessment is a purposeful, professional activity: Assessment is integral to course and program design, review and evaluation. There is: quality assurance of assessment at course-level; collaboration with colleagues to provide the whole-of-program approaches that make assessment a coherent experience for students; and ongoing revision and enhancement of assessment practices.
- Assessment is sustainable and workable: Assessment is conducted within the provisions of current resourcing and is achievable for teachers and students with reasonable effort.
- The design and conduct of assessment according to these principles requires effective collaboration between a number of stakeholders associated with teaching and learning including members of all current staff across the RTO.
Students who complete their training with ILP Academy undertake assessment in order to provide evidence of their acquired skills and knowledge. The assessment process allows for students to receive feedback regarding the result of their assessment within 10 working days.
Once a student completes all necessary assessments pertaining to their enrolled course, a nationally accredited parchment will be issued within 30 days of completion.
Due to reporting requirements with the NCVER under the NVR regulations.These results are shared via the AVETMISS reporting system and will appear on the students USI results after processing. This can take up to one year due to the timing of the required reporting. Students are encouraged to check with ILP Academy staff if the appearance of their results on their USI record does not appear within that timeframe.
Validation and Moderation policy
ILP Academy is committed to providing quality training and assessment materials. As such, a schedule is created to review and enhance the quality of our learning and assessment products, systems and procedures.
- ILP Academy will undertake validation of all assessment tools for the qualifications within its scope of registration over a five year period in accordance with RTO Standards.
- ILP Academy will moderate assessment instruments used during the delivery and assessment of qualifications on its scope of registration prior to delivery of any corporate cohort, or once each calendar year, which ever is the latter.
- Changes to any assessment instrument will be recorded, saved and version controlled.
- All validation and moderation outcomes will be recorded and saved on the ILP Academy cloud server in the appropriate location.
Course fees policy
ILP Academy offers flexible payment options to provide students with choices that best suit their situations. ILP Academy complies with Schedule 6 of the RTO Standards 2015 (or its successor) to ensure prepaid fees are guaranteed and students will not be financially disadvantaged if ILP Academy is unable to provide the agreed training.
Currently course fees are accepted at the commencement of the enrolment period. This payment is fully refundable under the conditions outlined in the Course withdrawal and cancellation policy (below). Students may opt for a payment plan whereby fees are taken from a nominated bank account over an agreed period of time. An enrolment fee of $250 is applied in this instance in order to meet the upfront costs of the training and administration.
Course withdrawal and cancellation policy
NOTE: Access to the online learning portal is suspended if the student does not login for a period of 90 days. The student must contact ILP Academy to re-instate access if it is still required.
Withdrawal prior to commencement:Enrolment doesn’t constitute a commitment to complete the training. As such, students who enrol for a full qualification have a 14-day cooling-off period following payment of course fees, during which time and as long as they have not commenced training (i.e. attended workshops, submitted assessments and/or RPL evidence for assessment), they may receive a full refund of fees paid. Where training materials such as print material/books have been dispatched prior to their decision to withdraw, a deposit equal to the retail cost of the materials will be withheld until these materials are returned, undamaged and unmarked, by the student.
Withdrawal and refund of course fees after commencement:Following commencement of training, ILP Academy recognises that adult learners may encounter situations in their lives that may cause them to need to withdraw from training. In the case of individuals who have commenced training (i.e. attended workshops, submitted assessment pieces and/or RPL evidence for assessment), a pro-rata refund will be issued for any units for which training has not been attended and/or assessments have not been commenced. Where the participant has completed all assessments for units, a Statement of Attainment will be issued to the student for those units. Depending upon the individual situation, students who withdraw may be offered a place on a future course at a preferential rate should they wish to recommence at that time. Please discuss this with your ILP Academy representative. Students who choose to withdrawer after 3 months (90 days) from enrolment, can still apply for a statement of attainment for any units completed, however no refund will be returned.
The company has adopted a policy for student refunds that is deemed to be fair and equitable to both the student and the training organisation. This refund policy is advised in writing via this website.The refund policy has been designed to enable students to seek a refund where they legitimately believe this to be applicable. Should the company cancel a course, participants are entitled to a full refund or transfer of funds to a future course. Persons seeking RPL/RCC are required to pay the advertised/relevant fees and charges and provide evidence of current competency through self-assessment. RPL/RCC applications will incur fees as advertised per unit of competency granted.
NOTE: Course fees are GST inclusive (or GST free if contributing to a national qualification).
Withdrawal of individuals/groups from Corporate Courses:Courses run specifically for corporate clients incorporate background costs in the course fee structures quoted. As such, minimum numbers are applied to ensure these costs are covered. Where a corporate client agrees to the minimum cohort number of participants, course fee minimums also apply.
Where an individual withdraws/is withdrawn from non-accredited courses of one day or less, no refunds apply.
Where an individual withdraws/is withdrawn from a Nationally Accredited Training course, providing the course total course panel does not fall below the minimum panel, the client will not be invoiced (or, where already invoiced, refunded) for that individual for any units they have not commenced assessment for, and the individual will still receive a Statement of Attainment for any completed units. “Minimum panel” means the agreed specified minimum (usually 5-8 persons, depending upon the qualification/course) for the delivered Nationally Accredited Training course. Where the actual enrolment numbers fall below the minimum panel at any time following commencement of the first course workshop, the client will be charged for the minimum panel.
Cancellation of workshops:Where a corporate workshop is cancelled by the client and not rescheduled within a reasonable period as agreed by both parties, the following charges will be incurred:
- Where a workshop is cancelled with greater than 5 working days’ notice:
- The cost of any expenses associated with cancellation or change of pre-booked travel or accommodation not paid for by the client.
- Where a workshop is cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice:
- As above, plus an additional administration fee of up to 75% of the workshop fee.
Complaints and appeals procedure
ILP Academy is committed to providing a learning environment in which customer complaints and appeals are responded to in a constructive and timely manner. The policies and procedures ensure that:
1. Each complaint and appeal is recorded in writing.
2. Outcomes are recorded in writing.
3. Each appeal is heard by an independent person or panel.
1. has an opportunity to formally present his or her case; and
2. receives written advice of the outcome including reasons for the decision.
RPL – recognition of prior learning and RCC – recognition of current competency, are standard practices within the vocational education sector. ILP Academy acknowledges the prior experience and qualifications of students in accordance with its obligations under the RTO Standards 2015. Students who have prior qualifications and/or experience in the area of learning for which they are applying, may be eligible for RPL/RCC. ILP Academy provides a clear set of rules under which RPL and RCC may be obtained. For example:
Attaining the Certificate IV in Learning Design & FacilitationIf you have experience in designing and delivering blended learning experiences, you may be eligible for ‘recognition of prior learning’ (RPL) or ‘recognition of current competency’ (RCC) for some of the course topics. As our program is a completely integrated course that has overlapping learning content, assessment and evidence requirements, you will be required to provide RPL/RCC evidence that completely covers the performance and knowledge evidence requirements for this course.
Partial evidence of a single unit would not deem you eligible, although you may choose to provide this evidence during the full program as a means of reducing your overall workload.
To determine if your evidence is sufficient, please request the Units of Competency for the course and comparing your evidence to the ‘Skills and Knowledge Evidence’ requirements listed at the end of each unit.
